The father of a six-year-old Emirati kid demanded Dh200,000 (about $50,000) from the insurance company and the Asian driver who had hit his son.
As far as the public prosecution is concerned, the motorist was not paying attention to the road or the traffic signs and so was guilty of running over the kid. As another "legal time limit" violation, the accused did not report the occurrence to authorities until after it was too late.
The kid also dropped out of KG2, so he couldn't continue studying.
The child was run over and screamed and panicked, according to the case file. The right foot and other bones of his right leg were also shattered. The judgment included a reference to the plaintiff's future medical and physiotherapy expenses.
