Abu Dhabi, renowned for its unwavering commitment to healthcare regulations, continues to fortify its standards, placing community welfare at the forefront. With recent stringent measures, including imposing a significant Dh1 million fine, conducting investigations into medical practitioners and shutting down healthcare facilities, the emirate showcases its steadfast dedication to safeguarding public health.

These proactive actions not only serve as punitive measures but also underscore a broader commitment to community service and the protection of public health. Upholding professional integrity and accountability among healthcare providers remains pivotal in delivering high-quality and ethical care that genuinely serves the community.

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi shut down eight healthcare centres in the UAE capital early this week for breaching laws and standards.
A fine of  Dh1 million was issued to a dental clinic for suspected fraud and misuse of public funds, and probe was launched into the conduct of the doctors.

Meanwhile, three centres -- an occupational medicine centre, a laboratory, and a medical centre -- were shut down for violating regulations related to the prevention of infectious diseases.Four homecare facilities were also closed. The closures were due to issues related to patient consent, treatment explanations, contract approvals, emergency supplies, and unauthorised staff practices.

The department called on all healthcare facilities operating in the emirate to comply with its policies and regulations to preserve the health and safety of all community members, and affirmed it will continue to carry out regular inspections and assist violating facilities to correct any shortfalls.
The closure of healthcare facilities extends beyond immediate consequences for violations; it is a proactive measure aimed at safeguarding the community. These closures target establishments found in violation of federal laws pertaining to infectious disease prevention, electronic reporting regulations and standards regarding public health statistics reporting.

Emphasising the focus on preventing infectious diseases and ensuring accurate reporting aligns with the overarching objective of guaranteeing public health and safety. The swift closure of several facilities underscores authorities' commitment to rectify violations promptly, serving as both a deterrent and a reaffirmation of the commitment to community health.

Federal Law No. 14 of 2014 provides the legal foundation, outlining regulations that healthcare facilities must adhere to. Designed with the community's well-being in mind, these regulations encompass infectious disease prevention, electronic reporting, and public health statistics reporting, serving as a guiding principle for healthcare practices prioritising community welfare.
