A 36-year-old accountant employed by a contracting firm has been ordered to return the stolen funds equal to the salary of six employees.
The manager of the company filed a complaint against him, alleging that she paid him Dh25,350 to put in the business's bank account. However, he took the money for himself and refused to return it, despite being politely asked.
The plaintiff produced evidence demonstrating that the accountant signed a document declaring that he had received the funds to pay employee salaries. She also provided the names of the employees and the amount of their unpaid wages.
The Ras Al Khaimah Civil Court delivered a judgment requiring the defendant to pay the plaintiff Dh25,350 in addition to the court costs and fees.
