Officials issued a stern warning on Monday, cautioning motorists about the severe consequences of reckless driving that results in harm.

In a social media post aimed at raising awareness, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department emphasised the importance of avoiding actions that endanger lives while behind the wheel, and outlined the legal penalties involved.

According to the post, Article 399 of Federal Decree Law No. 31 of 2021, which pertains to the Crimes and Penalties Law (the Penal Code), specifies imprisonment and/or a fine for individuals who intentionally engage in behaviours jeopardising the safety of others while driving. Should such actions lead to any form of harm, imprisonment is mandated, alongside the possibility of additional penalties as prescribed by law.

The Department urged drivers to strictly adhere to Abu Dhabi Police directives concerning traffic regulations.
