Dubai streamlined application renewal cancellation process

Dubai has streamlined the application, renewal, and cancellation process for domestic worker residence visas by introducing an all-in-one digital service through the Dubai Now app. The initiative significantly reduces paperwork, costs, and time, offering residents a faster and more convenient solution.

A Unified Digital Platform

The Dubai Now app is now the exclusive channel for domestic worker visa services, replacing multiple service centres and cutting the steps required to complete transactions. Developed by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), the initiative aims to simplify the process and enhance efficiency.

Key Benefits

  • Fewer Documents: The number of required documents has been reduced from 10 to just four.

  • Streamlined Steps: The process now involves only four steps, down from 12.

  • Time Savings: Processing time has been cut from 30 days to just five.

  • Cost Reduction: Each transaction now costs Dh400 less.

  • Fewer Visits: Applicants need to visit service centres only twice instead of eight times.

How to Apply

The process for securing a domestic worker's residency has been simplified as follows:

  1. Access the App: Use the Dubai Now app to access visa services.

  2. Submit Information: Fill out the unified service package form with the domestic worker's details, identity, and passport information.

  3. Sign the Contract: Sign the employment contract electronically within the app.

  4. Medical Examination: The worker undergoes a medical exam, with results sent directly to the app.

  5. Receive Documents: The worker’s ID and residency permits are issued digitally.

Part of a Larger Initiative

This rollout is the third phase of Mohre’s Work Bundle project, which aims to unify and digitize employment and residence services. The first phase was launched in Dubai in March and later extended to all seven emirates. The second phase streamlined processes for over 600,000 companies and seven million workers.

Dubai’s leadership continues to innovate by enhancing governmental processes, making them more accessible, efficient, and cost-effective for residents. This new system underscores the city’s commitment to leveraging technology for public convenience.
