Ras Al Khaimah, RAK Police, flooded roads, car impoundment, black points

Six vehicles that raced through two flooded valleys in Ras Al Khaimah have been confiscated, following a viral video depicting their reckless behaviour on social media.

The owners of these vehicles now face significant fines and the forfeiture of their 4WDs for nearly six months. The recent heavy rains in various parts of the UAE led to flooding, exacerbating the danger of such actions.

As per the RAK Police, the drivers involved are subject to a Dh2,000 fine, a 60-day impoundment of their vehicles, and 23 black points on their licences.

This penalty is in accordance with federal law, which strictly prohibits entering flooded valleys, regardless of the perceived level of risk. Furthermore, under a recent law enacted in RAK, their vehicles will remain seized for an additional 120 days, with a release fee of Dh10,000 required thereafter.

The vehicles were caught on camera navigating through flooded areas in Al Mazraa and Mina Al Arab. Upon identification of the vehicles and their drivers, the RAK police promptly arrested them and enforced the necessary penalties.
