In an attempt to properly legislate and build legal framework to include the Agri-sector within the ambit of the law, the Emirate of Abu Dhabi has decided to initiate a mechanism to register Agricultural land leases. To register agricultural land leases in Abu Dhabi, the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has issued Decision No. 85 of 2021. After completing the requirements, each municipality will register farm leases in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. The lessee must be a legal entity, and the farm must have got the approval from ADAFSA or Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority. The move is aimed at attracting more investments to the Agriculture Sector as well. Having a regularised system, in Sheikh Mansoor’s opinion, will usher in investments boosting the sector. He went on to appreciate the efforts of DMT and ADAFSA in bringing this vision into a reality.
