Abu Dhabi Commercial Court Rejects Dh33 Million Claim Against BILDCO

The Abu Dhabi Commercial Court has dismissed a Dh33 million compensation claim filed against the Abu Dhabi National Company for Building Materials (BILDCO), ruling in favour of the company and ordering the claimant to bear all court fees, legal costs and lawyers’ expenses.

The judgment, issued on July 22, 2026 in Commercial Case No. 425/2026, rejected a Dh33 million compensation claim filed against BILDCO, finding no legal basis to impose liability on the company.

The court found no legal grounds to hold the company liable or impose any financial obligations arising from the dispute, bringing the case to an end after rejecting all claims against BILDCO.

In a disclosure to the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), BILDCO said the ruling would have no material impact on its financial position, results or future operations. The company added that no financial liabilities are expected to arise from the judgment following the dismissal of the claim.

BILDCO said the court’s decision reinforces its legal position and reflects the strength of its governance, compliance practices and internal procedures.

The ruling is also seen as significant for listed companies and investors, as it provides clarity on potential liabilities arising from commercial disputes. Legal experts noted that such judgments highlight the UAE commercial judiciary’s role in resolving business disputes based on evidence and legal principles.

The decision further underscores the importance of specialised commercial courts in strengthening investor confidence and supporting the UAE’s position as a regional centre for business and investment.

The judgment also reaffirms that unsuccessful parties in commercial litigation may be required to bear court fees, legal expenses and lawyers’ costs, depending on the court’s assessment.

With the dismissal of the lawsuit, BILDCO said the matter has been conclusively resolved, allowing the company to continue its operations without any adverse financial or legal implications.
