
Abu Dhabi Courts Record 98% Case Completion Rate in First Half of 2025
Family, Civil and Administrative Claims Court leads with 99% completion as ADJD reports strong performance, digital expansion and global recognition.

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has achieved remarkable results across its courts, recording a 98 per cent case completion rate during the first half of 2025.
Among specialised courts, the Family and Civil and Administrative Claims Court led with a 99 per cent completion rate out of 10,564 registered cases. The Abu Dhabi Labour Court handled 1,542 cases with a 98 per cent completion rate, while the Commercial Court achieved the same rate from 9,426 cases.
Across the emirate, Abu Dhabi courts registered the highest number of filed cases at 21,532, followed by Al Ain courts with 7,344, and Al Dhafra courts with 546.
Milestones in 2024
The ADJD marked several notable achievements in 2024, including winning the Gold Award at the International Customer Experience Awards and providing Dh34 million in financial support to individuals facing hardship. The Department also recorded improvements in case resolution times, expanded civil marriage services for non-Muslims, and enhanced legal awareness among residents.
Financial and Social Initiatives
The Department provided around Dh34 million in financial aid to individuals in civil, commercial, and rental cases, as well as to inmates in correctional and rehabilitation centres. It also resolved 1,234 disputes -- covering commercial, real estate, and civil consumer matters --through mediation and reconciliation centres, with a total value of Dh443.039 million.
A new memorandum of understanding was signed with an international operations management group specialising in correctional and rehabilitation services to improve service quality and develop AI-driven digital systems.
Service Development and Legal Expansion
Public notaries completed 84,183 transactions in 2024, marking a 6 per cent growth, while private notaries recorded 17,672 transactions, up 16.7 per cent. The Civil Family Court for Non-Muslims processed 36,000 civil marriage applications, reflecting the growing demand for personal status services.
The Department’s commitment to excellence was recognised internationally when it received the Gold Award at the International Customer Experience Awards 2024.
Legal Awareness and Professional Growth
ADJD’s outreach initiatives reached 60,000 non-Arabic-speaking residents in the first half of 2024, raising awareness of legal rights and processes. Meanwhile, the Committee for Lawyers’ Affairs approved 18 new Emirati lawyers, strengthening the national legal sector.
Judicial Performance and Technology
The Department recorded an average case resolution time of 40 days in primary courts and 34 days in appellate courts during 2024, underscoring its efficiency. Additionally, more than 602,000 remote hearings were held through video conferencing, highlighting the Department’s ongoing investment in technology to enhance judicial accessibility and performance.
