The Correctional and Rehabilitation Policies Committee at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department has approved a series of AI-driven technology projects for Rehabilitation Centres. Key initiatives include smart security systems, behavioural detection and rapid response mechanisms, and the Inmate Requests Management System (RMS) linked directly to the courts.

These projects reflect a strategic push towards digital transformation and process automation, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s leadership in leveraging advanced technology to support justice and the rule of law.

Counsellor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, highlighted that the projects implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, emphasising innovation across the judicial and correctional system to strengthen public safety, service quality and Abu Dhabi’s competitive edge.

Al Abri noted that behavioural prediction systems and smart request management tools form a cornerstone of the strategy to carry out operations with minimal human intervention while enhancing safety in correctional facilities. These technologies allow accurate monitoring of activities, immediate emergency responses, and efficient access for inmates to their legal rights through direct linkage with the judicial system.

During its 2026 development review, the Committee also considered projects to upgrade pretrial detention facilities in line with international standards, ensuring humane and legally compliant environments.

In parallel, specialised workshops in manufacturing and agriculture are being introduced to equip inmates with professional skills, supporting their reintegration into the workforce after completing their sentences.
