Abu Dhabi Judicial Department Rolls Out Facial Recognition for Notary Services
Smart biometric system aims to streamline authentication and boost efficiency in official transactions.
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has launched the first phase of a facial recognition system for notary transactions, becoming the first judicial authority in the region to adopt this technology as an alternative to digital signatures.
The initiative is designed to enhance the notarial authentication process and improve service efficiency, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and reliability. Initially, the system will cover powers of attorney for lawyers, allowing documents to be authenticated quickly via smart devices.
The technology eliminates the need for digital signatures while providing maximum security through biometric encryption and instant verification against official records.
His Excellency Counselor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the ADJD, said the move reflects the vision of His Highness Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, and aligns with directives for continuous modernization and adoption of cutting-edge technology to deliver innovative, smart services.
He added that facial recognition in notary transactions represents a strategic leap towards the future, simplifying the customer experience and reducing turnaround times for official transactions. Plans are underway to expand the system to cover more notary and authentication services, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a global benchmark in judicial innovation and digital services.
