The Abu Dhabi Labour Court of First Instance has ordered a company to pay Dh187,711 to a former employee who was dismissed after 15 years of service without receiving his outstanding employment dues.

The employee had filed a lawsuit seeking payment of Dh160,921 in end-of-service gratuity, Dh6,152 in accrued annual leave pay and an additional Dh21,210 under a settlement agreement submitted to the court.

He also asked the court to impose interest at 9 per cent on the delayed payments, recover legal costs and expenses from the employer, and order immediate enforcement of the judgment.

In his claim, the employee said he had worked for the company in a designated position, earning a basic monthly salary of Dh12,000 and a total monthly salary of Dh18,000. However, his employment was terminated without the company settling his outstanding financial entitlements.

The court noted that the company had acknowledged, in a previously issued settlement and its response to the lawsuit, that the employee was entitled to Dh160,356 in end-of-service gratuity and Dh6,152 in annual leave pay. However, it disputed his claims for the additional amounts.
