How to Verify Whether a UAE Job Offer is Genuine Before Accepting Employment and Moving Abroad
Essential checks every job seeker should make to identify fake UAE employment offers and avoid visa scams.
Securing a job offer in the UAE can be a major career milestone, particularly for professionals planning to relocate. But before making travel plans or submitting documents, it is important to confirm that the offer is legitimate and officially recognised by the authorities.
In the UAE, every lawful job offer must be issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE). Employers are legally required to use a MoHRE-approved contract form when applying for a worker’s permit, and these forms carry a unique serial number or barcode that allows candidates to verify their authenticity online.
Although the final employment contract may contain additional benefits or clauses, the original job offer remains the legal foundation of the employment relationship. This means the key terms in the final contract must match those mentioned in the offer letter.
What Information Should a Valid UAE Job Offer Contain?
According to MoHRE, an official UAE job offer letter must clearly mention:
- The employee’s job title or position
- The company’s registration number
- The type of contract being offered
- Salary details, whether monthly, daily, or commission-based
- The date on which employment begins
- Weekly rest days or leave entitlements
- Notice period requirements
- Any other agreed terms and conditions
Missing or vague details in any of these areas could be a warning sign.
How to Check if Your UAE Job Offer is Valid
If you are outside the UAE and receive a job offer, there are several ways to confirm whether it is genuine.
- Contact the UAE embassy in your country
One of the safest first steps is to approach the UAE embassy or consulate in your home country. Embassy officials may be able to help verify the legitimacy of the employer and the offer.
- Verify through MoHRE’s online enquiry system
Applicants can also independently check their offer through MoHRE’s official online portal.
To do this:
- Visit the official MoHRE website
- Go to the Services section
- Select Employee Services
- Click on Transactions Inquiry Service
- Choose Enquiry for Job Offer
You will then need to enter:
- The transaction number listed on the offer letter
- The company number
- The relevant date range
- The permit type (select All Work Permits)
Once submitted, the system will display the job offer if it has been officially registered with MOHRE. If no record appears, the offer may be fake or incomplete.
Important Checks Before Accepting a UAE Job
Before signing or proceeding with an employment offer, job seekers should keep the following points in mind:
Compare the details carefully
Make sure the salary, designation and benefits shown in the MOHRE system match exactly what was discussed during interviews or in email communications.
Do not pay recruitment fees
Under UAE labour laws, employers are responsible for all recruitment, visa and processing costs. Any request for payment from the employee should be treated as suspicious.
Check for official MoHRE markings
A valid offer letter should be issued on the official MoHRE template and must include a barcode or transaction number for verification.
Why verification matters
Fake job offers remain one of the most common scams targeting overseas job seekers. Fraudsters often use the names of real companies, forged documents and false promises of high salaries to collect money or personal information.
Verifying a job offer through official UAE channels can protect applicants from financial loss, visa fraud and potential immigration issues. Taking a few extra steps before accepting an offer can help ensure that the opportunity is genuine and legally secure.
