In an interesting turn of events, a person who registered himself on a online matrimonial service provider in hopes of getting positive responses from a suitable potential partner, had moved the Consumer Court in Bengaluru since his stint in the matrimonial site was unsuccessful in getting him a positive response. The petitioner argued that there was deficiency in services since the matrimonial portal did not guarantee marriage, despite having paid a hefty membership fee of Rs. 59,180. The complainant claimed that he has been mentally harassed and suffered financially too. The portal submitted their efforts on the complainant’s profile where they had curated 14 profiles for him of which he had accepted two profiles. The portal also submitted that the T & C guaranteed facilitation and does not guarantee marriage. The petition was accordingly dismissed owing to lack of any deficiency in services.
