Police have arrested a suspect and are searching for two more in connection with the theft of a Lamborghini from a parking lot in Dubai's Marina neighborhood; the vehicle was valued at AED 1.1 million.
An investor recently reported his vehicle stolen from a secure parking garage in a high-rise building in the Marina district, as documented by police reports. He claimed he took a trip abroad and upon his return to the United States he was unable to locate his car.
During the inquiry, a police officer noticed that multiple allegations had been received about the theft of high-end vehicles in different emirates. A man from the Gulf who was the primary plotter was tracked down and apprehended. His two Asian co-conspirators have yet to be apprehended by law enforcement authorities.
After confirming the owners' absences, the first defendant admitted that he had collaborated with the other two to take high-end vehicles that had been left parked within the towers for extended periods. The Dubai Criminal Court found each man guilty and handed down terms of three years in prison, a fine of AED 870,000, and eventual deportation.
