Saudi Arabia Might be Heading to Major Legal Reforms, Initiated by MBS

Saudi Arabia seems to be changing faster than ever, with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, better known as MBS, at the helm. The new laws, which are part of the country's economic and social reforms, will be announced in 2021, clearing the path for codification. Saudi Arabia has announced major judicial reforms, putting the country on the road to codified law – a significant step forward in the very conservative country's Islamic-based legal system. This is part of the Vision 2030 Agenda. So far, owing to the lack of such a consistent system court decisions were often inconsistent and lengthy litigation procedures were common. Women in Saudi Arabia have historically were on a lower rung than men in terms of legal and economic rights, and the same seems to be on the path to change.
