A recent incident has proven that corruption does not go unpunished in Saudi Arabia, no matter how high ranking an official is involved. The Public Security Director of Saudi Arabia, Lt. Gen. Khalid bin Qarar Al-Harbi, has been stripped of his position by King Salman himself owing to corruption where he reportedly used state money for his own personal interests. He’s been accused of various other offences, along with 18 others, and the range offences include forgery, bribery, and abusing power. His employment has been terminated, and he will be retired and referred to the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority for inquiry (Nazaha). Nazaha began legal proceedings against a number of persons accused of a variety of financial and administrative offences as part of its zero-tolerance policy regarding illicit acts in public service.
