The UAE’s Golden Visa programme is one of the most sought-after long-term residency schemes in the region, designed to attract and retain top talent, investors, and entrepreneurs. It offers a secure 10-year residency with multiple benefits, including tax-free income, business opportunities, and access to world-class living standards.

What the Golden Visa Offers

Holders of the Golden Visa enjoy several privileges, such as multiple-entry permits, extended residency, and the right to sponsor dependents. They can also live and work in the UAE without the need for a local sponsor or employer -- a key attraction for professionals and business owners alike.

Eligibility for Professionals

Professionals employed in the UAE are eligible for the Golden Visa if they meet specific requirements. Applicants must:

  • Hold a valid employment contract in a job classified under occupational levels 1 or 2 by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).
    • Level 1: Managers and business executives
    • Level 2: Professionals in science, engineering, health, education, business, IT, law, sociology, and culture
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree (or higher).
  • Earn a minimum monthly salary of Dh30,000.

Documentation Requirements

Applicants working for mainland companies must provide a Ministry of Labour contract showing a salary of Dh30,000 or more. Those employed by free zone companies should submit a salary certificate issued by the relevant authority confirming the same.

Experts note that the minimum salary requirement refers to basic pay only, excluding allowances. Applicants are also required to submit:

  • Six months of bank statements showing regular salary deposits.
  • Attested degree certificate and equivalency certificate, verified by the UAE Embassy in the applicant’s home country and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer on company letterhead, signed and stamped by an authorised signatory.
  • Comprehensive health insurance covering the applicant and dependents.
  • Passport copy, visa page, and a passport-sized photograph.
  •
