In a remarkable community-driven healthcare initiative, the UAE has inaugurated a new dialysis centre in Abu Dhabi, providing free treatment for residents suffering from kidney failure.

The SEHA Abu Dhabi Dialysis Centre has been launched through the collaboration of the Authority of Social Contribution - Ma’an, the Government of Abu Dhabi’s official channel for social contributions, in partnership with PureHealth and its healthcare subsidiary, SEHA.

Healthcare Initiative Backed by Community Contributions

The centre is part of Ma’an’s ‘From The Community to The Community’ initiative, which aligns with the UAE’s Year of Community campaign. It aims to address pressing social priorities by offering essential healthcare services at no cost.

According to Ma’an, the initiative has been made possible through millions of dirhams contributed by generous donors, showcasing the UAE’s commitment to social welfare and healthcare development.

Director General of Ma’an, stated:"The opening of the SEHA Abu Dhabi Dialysis Centre reflects the power of a unified community in creating long-term social impact. This centre is crucial for the survival of renal patients and reinforces our mission to enhance access to essential healthcare."

Free Dialysis Treatment for Abu Dhabi Residents

Run by expert teams from SEHA Kidney Care, the centre initially accommodates 112 patients undergoing dialysis three times a week. Plans are underway to expand capacity to serve an additional 56 patients and introduce peritoneal dialysis services.

The facility is equipped with advanced hemodiafiltration machines and integrated electronic medical records to ensure high-quality patient care and real-time monitoring.

While this healthcare initiative is not related to any specific law or legal framework, it is an example of how governments and communities in the UAE work together to uphold the rights to healthcare access without the need for legal intervention.

Community Art Initiative Enhances Healing Experience

In addition to healthcare, the centre has fostered community engagement by involving renowned artists like Ghaiath Al Rouba, Nadeem Ka, Charlie VillaGracia, and Christian Ray. These artists dedicated over 40 hours each to create vibrant murals inside the facility, enriching the patients' environment.

Group CEO of SEHA, emphasized: "SEHA is committed to delivering world-class care and ensuring healthcare services are accessible to those in need, in line with the Year of Community."
