The UAE is set to deploy a new fleet of intelligent, AI-powered vehicles designed to identify residency and visa violators instantly. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) unveiled the cutting-edge “Inspection Car” at GITEX Global 2025, taking place from October 13 to 17 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The mobile surveillance unit features advanced artificial intelligence systems capable of real-time visual monitoring and analysis. Fully electric with a range of 680km, the eco-friendly vehicle combines sustainability with operational efficiency to perform smoothly across the UAE’s diverse environments.

The initiative aims to boost the speed and precision of field inspection teams, replacing traditional inspection methods with automated, data-driven operations. Equipped with six high-resolution cameras, the vehicle provides complete 360-degree coverage and can monitor its surroundings up to 10 metres in all directions. Its robust design ensures uninterrupted performance in harsh conditions, including heat, dust, and night-time operations.

Inside the car, inspectors can view live analysis through dedicated operational interfaces. The system captures and processes facial images instantly, using AI algorithms for swift and accurate identification. When the system detects a match with any individual’s record, it triggers an instant smart alert, enabling rapid field response. The internal dashboard also employs predictive tools and maintains a secure link to the Authority’s databases for accurate verification.

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director-General of the ICP, said the project marks a breakthrough in field control operations. “The goal is to enhance our inspection teams’ efficiency in handling visa and residency violations quickly and safely, while ensuring faster response to emergencies using automated analysis,” he said.

Alongside the Inspection Car, the ICP is showcasing three other AI-powered innovations at GITEX 2025, all aimed at enhancing public services:

  • Smart Faceprint: A digital system using AI to streamline travel, secure payments, and accelerate verification through integration with various government and private platforms.
  • Smart Contact Centre: An AI-based voice system that understands multiple dialects and handles over 20,000 calls daily, improving responsiveness and customer experience.
  • Domestic Worker Services Package: Developed in partnership with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, this unified platform allows users to issue, renew, or cancel domestic worker residencies and complete medical exams in one seamless process.

Major General Al Khaili noted that these innovations reflect the UAE’s vision of harnessing AI to deliver future-ready services. “The projects showcased at GITEX embody Emirati innovation, enhancing operational processes and improving quality of life for the community,” he added.
