A Dubai court has sentenced 12 men to three years in prison for a violent armed robbery at a company office. The group of men, all from African nations, were found guilty of storming the office, threatening staff with knives, and stealing a significant amount of money.

In addition to their prison sentences, the defendants were jointly fined 2 million dirhams and will be deported after they complete their time.

The incident occurred in December when the company's owner was in his office with his son and a colleague. A group of masked men burst into the office, wielding knives and other weapons. The attackers threatened to kill the owner's son if he did not hand over all the cash. Although the owner initially managed to get his son into a bathroom to hide, the robbers broke down the door and assaulted them both. Under threat, the owner gave them the key to the company safe, from which they stole cash and other valuables before fleeing.

Police quickly identified the suspects using surveillance footage and a CID team was able to track down the vehicle used in the crime. One gang member was arrested with a bag containing knives and a portion of the stolen money. He confessed to his involvement and led police to the remaining members, who were also arrested.

The 12 men admitted to their roles in the robbery but denied any intent to kill. The court considered the evidence sufficient to convict them of armed robbery and handed down the sentences.
