An Abu Dhabi court has ordered a woman to pay Dh7,000 in compensation after finding that she verbally abused a senior school administrator during an official workplace meeting.

The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Claims Court ruled that the woman’s conduct caused moral and psychological harm to the head of administration at a private school, in the presence of his colleagues.

According to court records, the administrator had filed a civil claim seeking Dh50,000 in material, moral and emotional damages, along with legal expenses and lawyers’ fees.

The claimant told the court that he was performing his professional duties in a meeting with colleagues when the woman entered without prior notice and began directing abusive remarks at him and others present.

He said the incident led to criminal proceedings and the issuance of a penal order against the woman. The administrator argued that the episode caused him humiliation, harmed his professional reputation, and ultimately contributed to the termination of his employment at the school run by the defendant.

In its judgment, the court said police records, prosecution findings and submitted documents confirmed that the incident occurred during a discussion on organising a student celebration with an estimated budget of Dh300,000. It noted that the woman entered the meeting and addressed those present with insulting language that was clearly audible to all.

The court concluded that the remarks amounted to an affront to dignity and personal reputation, constituting contempt and humiliation. It also observed that the woman did not dispute the incident, which was established through police reports and the penal order issued by the public prosecution.
