Abu Dhabi Court Orders Refund and Fine After Man Sold Fake Concert Tickets
Victim recovers Dhs900 and receives Dhs5,000 compensation after Instagram ticket scam exposed.
The Abu Dhabi Court for Family, Civil and Administrative Cases has ordered a man to refund Dh900 and pay an additional Dh5,000 in compensation after selling fake concert tickets to another individual.
The case began when the victim came across an Instagram advertisement offering concert tickets. After contacting the seller via WhatsApp, both parties agreed on the purchase of two tickets, and the buyer transferred Dhs900 via bank transfer.
However, upon arriving at the event, the buyer discovered that the tickets were counterfeit. He subsequently filed a criminal complaint, and the court -- ruling in absentia -- imposed a Dh5,000 fine on the defendant.
In the civil proceedings that followed, the court confirmed that the earlier criminal ruling established the defendant’s wrongdoing. As a result, the defendant was ordered to return the Dhs900 received and pay Dh5,000 in compensation for the material and moral damages suffered by the victim.
