The Abu Dhabi Civil Family and Administrative Court has ordered a father to pay Dh50,000 in compensation to the guardian of another child after his minor son breached the family’s privacy and shared images online.

According to court documents, the case arose from several incidents in which the minor entered the complainant’s home without permission, filmed the complainant’s son and uploaded the footage on a social media platform with the apparent intention of insulting and bullying him.

Court records show that the boy also damaged surveillance cameras inside the house and recorded footage of the child’s bedroom and personal belongings. The images were later published online without the knowledge or consent of the family.

The complainant’s guardian initially sought Dh550,000 in compensation, arguing that the incident caused both material and moral harm, including a serious invasion of privacy and damage to the family’s reputation.

He told the court that the situation compelled him to file a criminal complaint with the public prosecution. An investigation was subsequently launched and charges were brought against the minor for photographing and publishing images of a child without permission, as well as violating the privacy of the home.

The court heard that a final criminal judgment had already been issued against the minor in connection with the offences.
