The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has approved the registration of 22 new mediators to support the resolution of civil and commercial disputes, as part of wider efforts to strengthen alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and improve the efficiency of the judicial system.

The decision was taken by the Experts, Conciliators and Mediators Affairs Committee during a meeting chaired by His Excellency Counsellor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the ADJD. The committee reviewed several agenda items and issued regulatory decisions concerning updates to the official registers of technical experts and mediators in accordance with the approved legal framework.

During the meeting, the committee approved the inclusion of 22 mediators in the official mediators’ register after they successfully completed a specialised training programme accredited by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Academy. The move is intended to ensure that qualified professionals are available to manage mediation processes effectively and professionally, facilitating the amicable settlement of civil and commercial disputes.

The committee also approved the registration of one new expert in the register of practising experts and renewed the registrations of five existing experts after confirming that they had met the required criteria. The step is aimed at strengthening the technical expertise available to the courts and improving the quality of expert reports submitted during legal proceedings.

In addition, the committee reviewed 14 applications submitted by various entities seeking inclusion in the mediators’ register. It was decided that the applications would undergo further examination to verify their compliance with the approved requirements before final decisions are taken.

Counsellor Al Abri said the committee continues to follow an institutional approach focused on enhancing the efficiency of the expertise and mediation system, which plays an important role in supporting swift justice and reinforcing public confidence in judicial services. He added that developing and qualifying specialised professionals contributes to creating an advanced judicial environment characterised by flexibility and efficiency, while strengthening the emirate’s competitiveness at the global level.
