
Abu Dhabi Police Detain 375 Individuals Over Alleged Spread of Misleading Social Media Content Linked to Regional Conflict
Authorities reiterate zero tolerance for rumours and panic-mongering, urge residents to rely on official sources as suspects are referred to prosecution.
Abu Dhabi Police have arrested at least 375 individuals of various nationalities on suspicion of circulating misleading information on social media related to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, authorities announced on Wednesday.
The suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action in line with applicable laws, although their nationalities have not been disclosed.
In a statement carried by the UAE’s official news agency, the police reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining security and public safety in coordination with relevant authorities across the emirate.
Officials stressed that spreading false or misleading information constitutes a clear violation of laws designed to protect society and uphold stability. Despite repeated warnings, some individuals were found to have disregarded official instructions, the police said.
The force underlined that it will take firm action against anyone found to be fuelling panic or attempting to influence public opinion through unverified content, noting that such acts are punishable under the law.
Residents have been urged to exercise caution and responsibility when sharing information online, rely only on credible and official sources, and refrain from circulating rumours or unverified reports.
