Asian Man Gets 5 Years in Jail, Deportation for Giving Wife Free Drugs
Court upholds jail term, fine, deportation, and banking restrictions for man who bought narcotics via social media and supplied them to his wife.

An Asian man has been sentenced to five years in prison, fined Dh50,000, and ordered deported after serving his term for possessing narcotics bought from an unknown dealer via social media, and for supplying them to his wife.
The Dubai Court of First Instance also barred him from transferring or depositing money without prior approval from the UAE Central Bank, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior.
The case began in April when the Anti-Narcotics Department received credible intelligence that the man’s wife, living in Al Muraqqabat, was using and possessing illegal substances. A raid on her residence uncovered 40 grammes of crystalline methamphetamine and another brownish substance containing the same drug. Police noted the husband’s nervous behaviour during the operation.
Lab tests confirmed both husband and wife had amphetamine and methamphetamine in their systems, both classified as narcotics under Federal Decree No. 3 of 2021. The man admitted supplying his wife with the drugs free of charge.
He told investigators he had bought the narcotics from someone advertising them on social media, transferred Dh200 to the seller’s bank account, received a GPS location via WhatsApp, and collected the drugs accordingly.
The Court of Appeal upheld the initial verdict.
