Asif Ali Breaks Silence on Abhyanthara Kuttavaali Delay: Legal Battle, Blackmail Allegations Surface
Malayalam actor confirms May release, explains why the film was withheld

Malayalam actor Asif Ali has addressed the swirling controversy surrounding the delay of his much-awaited investigative thriller Abhyanthara Kuttavaali, revealing that the project was derailed by false accusations, blackmail, and an ongoing legal dispute.
Originally scheduled for a theatrical release on April 17, the film never made it to screens, leading to online speculation and fan concern. During a recent Instagram Live session, Asif was joined by the film’s producer Naisam Salam and director Sethunath Padmakumar, where the trio clarified the events that forced the unexpected postponement.
Background: False Allegations and Financial Disputes
The film team revealed that they were hit with serious and unfounded accusations of financial misconduct just before the scheduled release. “There are people claiming we took money from them , but we haven’t taken a single rupee,” said director Sethunath Padmakumar, rejecting all allegations.
Producer Naisam Salam went further, alleging deliberate sabotage and blackmail. “We are being threatened by someone spreading false information. These are completely baseless claims intended to damage our reputation and stall the film,” he added.
Legal Battle Reaches Supreme Court
Choosing not to address the controversy publicly earlier, the team said they wanted to avoid unnecessary “mudslinging” and instead focus on taking the legal route. They have now taken the matter to the Supreme Court of India, determined to fight what they describe as a malicious attempt to disrupt the film’s release.
“We’re dealing with it legally,” confirmed Sethunath. “We are confident the truth will come out.”
What’s Next: A May Release
Despite the controversy, Asif Ali assured fans that the film is ready and will be released in May 2025. “We’ve put our heart into this project. The truth will come out—and so will our film, very soon,” he said with confidence.
Abhyanthara Kuttavaali, which promises an intense investigative plot, is now riding high on audience anticipation, not just for its storyline but for its dramatic off-screen battle as well.
