The Abu Dhabi Police has advised vehicles to use indicators when changing lanes in order to avoid accidents and confusion on the roads.

According to 2021 statistics, the Emirate reported 16,378 violations for failing to indicate when changing lanes.

The Abu Dhabi Police mentioned that changing lanes without signaling often confuses traffic behind a vehicle, resulting in accidents.

Not using indicators at a U-turn and while changing lanes is punishable under Article 83 of the traffic legislation. An errant motorist could face a fine of Dh400 for not adhering to the rule.
