Court Cancels Car Sale, Orders Seller to Pay Dh50,000 for Hiding Damage
Seller ordered to refund full amount and pay Dh50,000 compensation after concealing vehicle’s faulty history.

The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Claims Court has annulled the sale of a car after finding that the seller misrepresented its condition.
The court ordered the defendant to refund Dh390,000 -- the price paid for the vehicle -- and an additional Dh50,000 in compensation to the buyer.
According to case records, the seller advertised the vehicle on social media, claiming it had no defects. The buyer purchased and registered the car, but it later broke down. When taken to the agency for repairs, the request was rejected due to a flood damage report on the vehicle.
The plaintiff sued, seeking to void the contract, recover the purchase price with interest, and claim damages. The court-appointed expert found water damage and rust inside the vehicle, confirming it had been flooded prior to the sale.
The court held that the seller had been negligent and attempted to deceive the buyer by concealing the car’s history. It cancelled the contract and ordered the seller to cover legal fees and court expenses, in addition to the refund and compensation.
