Dhs100,000 Fine and Jail for Traffic Violations During Unstable Weather
New amendments to Federal Traffic Law introduce strict penalties for driving through flooded valleys and unsafe behaviour during rain and flash floods.

As unstable weather continues to affect several parts of the UAE, motorists are being urged to follow variable speed limits displayed on road signs and electronic panels, and to avoid driving through flooded areas.
The UAE government has amended the Federal Traffic Law to introduce specific regulations governing driving and road use during rainfall, flooding, and flash floods.
Under the new rules, anyone who causes a fatality by driving through a flooded valley or during flash floods faces imprisonment and a fine. The penalty for causing death with a vehicle is imprisonment and a fine of no less than Dh50,000, or either of the two penalties.
However, if the act occurs in high-risk conditions -- such as driving through valleys during flash floods -- the punishment increases to imprisonment for a minimum of one year and a fine of not less than Dhs100,000, or either of these penalties.
To enhance road safety during unstable weather, motorists are also required to carry first aid kits, backup lighting, and to secure outdoor equipment that may be displaced by strong winds.
