Former US President Donald Trump is expected to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in mid-May 2025 as part of a larger tour of the Middle East, according to four sources familiar with the matter. This visit will mark his first international trip of his second term.

Investment Agreements & Key Discussions

Speaking at the Oval Office on Monday, Trump confirmed plans to visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE. He revealed that the primary purpose of the visit would be to sign investment agreements, including a deal with Saudi Arabia worth over $1 trillion aimed at boosting the US economy and expanding military equipment sales.

Similar economic agreements are expected to be signed in Qatar and the UAE. Trump emphasised that these deals would lead to the creation of "tremendous jobs" in a matter of days.

Potential Topics on the Agenda

In addition to economic partnerships, sources indicated that discussions may cover crucial geopolitical issues such as:

  • Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine

  • The conflict in Gaza

  • The potential expansion of the Abraham Accords

Saudi Arabia has played a vital role in US diplomatic efforts, including hosting ceasefire talks between Russia and Ukraine.

Abraham Accords Expansion

During his recent statements, Trump reiterated his ambition to include more countries in the Abraham Accords — the normalisation agreements initiated by his administration between Israel and several Gulf countries during his first term. Although the White House has expressed interest in bringing Saudi Arabia into the accords, concerns persist due to the ongoing Gaza conflict.
