Court Sentences Man to Life For Running Delivery-Style Drug Network, Imposes Financial Ban, Deportation Order
Convict found guilty of promoting narcotics through drop-off points; appeal court upholds life sentence and strict financial controls.

Dubai’s Court of First Instance has sentenced a 35-year-old Asian man, identified as A.M.G., to life imprisonment for running a delivery-style narcotics distribution network. The ruling also ordered the confiscation of all seized drugs, imposed strict financial restrictions on him, and mandated his deportation after serving his term.
The judgment was issued under Federal Decree-Law No. 30 of 2021 on Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, which prescribes life imprisonment or even the death penalty for those convicted of trafficking, importing, or distributing drugs in the UAE. The law also allows courts to impose additional penalties, such as deportation and restrictions on financial transactions, to curb money laundering linked to narcotics crimes.
In this case, the court prohibited A.M.G. from transferring or depositing funds -- whether personally or through intermediaries -- without prior approval from the UAE Central Bank, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior.
According to case records, the investigation began after Dubai Police’s General Department of Anti-Narcotics received credible intelligence that A.M.G. was promoting crystal meth among users while also consuming drugs himself.
Surveillance revealed that he frequently visited the Abu Hail area, prompting a sting operation. Police arrested him in possession of nine packets of crystal meth. A subsequent search of his home uncovered a shoebox containing heroin, hashish, and additional quantities of crystal meth, along with tools such as a precision scale and scalpel used for packaging drugs.
During questioning, A.M.G. admitted to distributing drugs by leaving them at specific drop-off points, photographing the sites, and sending the coordinates to an accomplice abroad. He revealed he was paid Dh30 for each delivery.
Forensic tests confirmed the seized substances included heroin, hashish, and crystal meth, and also proved that he was a drug user. Based on this evidence, the court convicted him under UAE’s strict anti-narcotics law and handed down a life sentence. The Court of Appeal later upheld the ruling, reinforcing the country’s zero-tolerance stance on drug-related crimes.
