A 38-year-old Asian man has been sentenced to three months in prison and ordered to be deported after being found guilty of drug possession and use in Dubai. The Dubai Criminal Court issued the verdict following the seizure of 89 grams of heroin from the accused's residence in Al Satwa. The Dubai Court of Appeals later upheld the ruling, including the deportation order.

Case Background

The case unfolded after the General Department of Anti-Narcotics received a tip-off about the man’s involvement in drug use and possession. Following surveillance and investigation, police raided the suspect's residence, leading to his arrest and the recovery of three packets of heroin.

A forensic examination confirmed the narcotic substance was heroin, weighing a total of 89 grams, wrapped in six foil packets. A subsequent drug test on the man revealed traces of narcotics in his system.

Use of WhatsApp for Drug Purchase

During interrogation, the accused admitted to purchasing the heroin for personal use. He disclosed that he had acquired the drugs from another Asian individual via WhatsApp, who would share location coordinates for pickup. Payments were made through bank transfers, according to police reports.

The Dubai Criminal Court ordered the confiscation of the drugs and ruled that the man be deported after completing his prison term. The Dubai Court of Appeals later confirmed the verdict, rejecting the defendant’s appeal.
