Dubai: Driver Jailed, Deported for Assaulting Passenger

A Dubai Criminal Court has sentenced a Pakistani driver to one year in prison, followed by deportation, after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a female passenger.

Incident Details

The case dates back to April last year when a Polish resident of Dubai booked a ride from a five-star hotel in Business Bay. Instead of taking the designated route, the driver deviated towards a secluded area, where he assaulted her.

According to court records, the woman—who was intoxicated at the time—was left stranded. The next morning, after recalling parts of the incident, she reported it to the police. A forensic examination supported her claims.

Investigation and Court Proceedings

During the investigation, the victim identified the driver in a police lineup. The accused denied the charges, arguing that he was not provided with a translator during questioning. Despite his claims, forensic evidence and testimony led to his conviction.

The court sentenced him to one year in prison, followed by deportation.
