Dubai Launches ‘Amer’ Cybersecurity Reporting Service to Combat Rising Online Fraud and Protect Residents
Residents urged to stay alert and report suspicious digital activity as authorities step up cybercrime prevention efforts.
Dubai’s General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) has rolled out a new cybersecurity reporting service through its “Amer” Contact Centre, allowing residents to flag online fraud and suspicious digital activity with ease.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to enhance digital security and shield the community from the growing threat of cybercrime.
Authorities have called on the public to exercise caution, particularly when dealing with suspicious messages or websites posing as official entities such as GDRFA Dubai.
Residents can report concerns immediately using the “Cybersecurity Incident Reporting” feature via the Amer Contact Centre (800 5111).
When Should Residents Report an Incident?
The service can be used in cases involving:
- Misuse of an entity’s name or identity
- Websites impersonating official organisations
- Any suspected cybersecurity threat
- Fraudulent or misleading online transactions
Officials emphasised that timely reporting is critical in curbing cybercrime and protecting the wider community, adding that public awareness and cooperation remain key to tackling digital risks.
Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding users, GDRFA urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity without delay.
