The Dubai Judicial Institute (DJI) has officially launched the first cohort of its specialised ‘Reconciliation and Judicial Settlement Programme’, marking a new chapter in the Emirate’s efforts to promote efficiency and innovation in its judicial system. The initiative is part of DJI’s wider mission to strengthen the skills of judicial assistants and align the legal framework with international best practices.

Running from September to December 2025, the 17-week training programme brings together more than 20 judicial assistant trainees who will focus on the principles and practice of reconciliation and amicable settlement. Participants will receive access to comprehensive training modules that cover legal and technical knowledge, negotiation and mediation skills, and agreement-drafting techniques. The training is designed not only to accelerate dispute resolution but also to reinforce Dubai’s standing as a global hub for fast, fair, and effective judicial procedures.

His Excellency Professor Dr Saif Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Director of Dubai Courts, praised the programme as a milestone in developing human capital within the justice sector.

“The launch of this first cohort is greatly appreciated by Dubai Courts. It is part of a larger initiative to increase the effectiveness of judicial assistants through training that meets modern legal standards,” he said. “This programme is an important step towards establishing reconciliation as a sustainable and effective method for resolving disputes. By equipping staff with both theoretical knowledge and real-world expertise, it supports Dubai’s strategic vision of building a modern and globally competitive judicial system.”

H.E. Prof. Al Suwaidi highlighted that human capital development remains central to Dubai Courts’ strategy of “Judicial Leadership and Justice for a Global City.” He noted: “To build a modern judiciary, individuals must be empowered, and their skills continuously enhanced to meet the expectations of society. Programmes such as this not only raise professional standards but also strengthen public trust in the justice system.”

H.E. Judge Dr Ebtisam Ali Al Bedwawi, Director General of DJI, emphasised that the programme embodies Dubai’s broader ambition to provide quick, integrated, and sustainable judicial services.

“The ‘Reconciliation and Judicial Settlement Programme’ is a pioneering step that reflects the vision of our leadership to establish a justice system that prioritises amicable solutions,” she said. “It empowers judicial assistants with the expertise needed to speed up dispute resolution, advance Dubai’s ambitious legal vision, and enrich our training ecosystem.”

The training is delivered by an elite panel of judges, legal experts, and practitioners from leading judicial institutions in Dubai. Its blended approach incorporates theoretical lectures, case studies, and practical exercises, giving trainees exposure to both local judicial frameworks and comparative international experiences in alternative dispute resolution. This approach fosters professional integrity, neutrality, and transparency while equipping participants with the skills to handle settlement and reconciliation processes effectively.

Officials said the programme represents a “qualitative leap” for Dubai’s judicial work, ensuring that reconciliation is embedded as a viable and sustainable solution in the legal process. With an emphasis on speed, quality, and innovation, the initiative is expected to further cement Dubai’s position as a global model of timely justice delivery.

By expanding training opportunities for judicial assistants and encouraging amicable dispute resolution, the Dubai Judicial Institute continues to play a central role in advancing the Emirate’s judicial excellence and global competitiveness.
