In a groundbreaking move, Dubai has announced the establishment of the International Sports and Entertainment Zone (ISEZA), a free zone dedicated to sports and entertainment business activities. Located within the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) Free Zone, ISEZA is set to be the first of its kind in both the UAE and globally.

A Platform for Sports and Entertainment Business Expansion

ISEZA will provide an exclusive platform for licensing a range of businesses across established sectors like sports management, event management, talent representation, and media and broadcasting. In addition, the zone will support emerging sectors such as e-sports, AI-driven sports technology, and fan tokens, positioning itself as a hub for innovation and growth.

Attracting Global and Regional Industry Leaders

The zone is designed to attract a wide array of industry players, including global brands, sports leagues, franchises, rights owners, investors, sports and talent agencies, artists, media personalities, influencers, and creative industry professionals. The zone aims to create a dynamic environment that fosters collaboration and business opportunities within the sports and entertainment industries.

Supporting International and Regional Sports Organizations

ISEZA is also set to attract international and regional sports organizations, such as sports federations, associations, and leagues, with a focus on both established and emerging sports. The zone is designed to help businesses in the sports and entertainment sector thrive by offering comprehensive corporate and legal support tailored to the needs of its members.

Collaboration with UAE Authorities for Seamless Operations

ISEZA will work closely with key UAE authorities, including the UAE Ministry of Sports, Dubai Sports Council, and the UAE National Olympic Community, to ensure that its members receive the necessary support to succeed. The zone’s prime location within the DWTC Free Zone offers members valuable networking opportunities through a diverse range of events and exhibitions.

A Major Social Impact for the UAE’s Sports Industry

Damir Valeev, CEO of ISEZA, emphasized the social impact of the initiative, stating that it will provide a unique environment for hosting sports exhibitions, museums, academic programs, and community projects in key areas like the Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai Expo areas. He added, "This initiative will contribute to the promotion of an active sports and healthy lifestyle in the UAE."

With the sports industry contributing approximately $2.5 billion annually to Dubai’s economy, the launch of ISEZA represents a significant step in further developing the emirate’s position as a global sports and entertainment hub. There are currently over 40 free zones in the UAE, each focusing on different industries, but ISEZA’s dedicated approach to sports and entertainment is set to redefine the sector.
