Eid Al Fitr 2025: UAE Announces Public Sector Holidays for Eid Celebrations
Federal Authority for Government Human Resources Reveals Eid Al Fitr Holiday Schedule

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has officially announced the Eid Al Fitr holiday schedule for the UAE’s public sector. According to the circular issued by FAHR, the holiday will span from 1st to 3rd Shawwal 1446 AH, corresponding to March 30th to April 2nd, 2025, depending on the moon sighting.
Possible Scenarios Based on Moon Sighting
Eid Al Fitr’s start date depends on the sighting of the new crescent moon, and there are two possible scenarios:
-
If Ramadan ends on 29 days, Eid Al Fitr will begin on Sunday, March 30th, and the holiday will last from Sunday to Tuesday, April 1st.
-
If Ramadan ends on 30 days, Eid Al Fitr will begin on Monday, March 31st, extending the holiday to Wednesday, April 2nd.
Additional Holiday in Case of a 30-Day Ramadan
In the event that Ramadan concludes with 30 days, the 30th of Ramadan (March 29th, 2025) will be recognized as an additional public holiday, further extending the Eid Al Fitr break.
Official Announcement After Moon Sighting
The official confirmation of the Eid Al Fitr dates will be made after the moon sighting on March 29th, 2025.
Holiday Wishes from FAHR
On this occasion, the Federal Authority extended heartfelt congratulations to the UAE government, its citizens, residents, and the entire Arab and Islamic world. FAHR expressed its wishes for continued prosperity, good health, and well-being for all.
Eid Al Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting and reflection observed by Muslims worldwide. The announcement of these holidays gives federal employees the opportunity to celebrate the religious occasion, which is a time for community gatherings, feasts, and giving to those in need.
Eid Al Fitr Celebrations Across the UAE
The holiday period will allow for large-scale celebrations, with many public sector workers taking time off to spend with family, visit friends, and participate in community events. The UAE is known for its grand Eid celebrations, including family gatherings, feasts, and cultural events that showcase the nation’s rich traditions.
This extended break not only marks a significant cultural moment in the Islamic calendar but also provides an opportunity for relaxation and reflection after the month of fasting.
