The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) has launched an enhanced version of its facial recognition system for the digital certification portal.
The ID card reader will be replaced by the facial recognition system that is used for digital certification services.
This comes as a part of the UAE’s ‘Year of the 50’ and ‘Go Digital’ campaign which intends to digitize government service centres.
The ICA had previously announced updates to the Emirates ID, including additional features such as a 3D picture using laser-printing technology to reveal the cardholder's date of birth.
According to the announcement, all Emirates ID cardholders above the age of fifteen are eligible for this service. The unique nine-digit code, UID on the residence visa page of the passport will activate the facial print.
