The Allahabad High Court has expressed concern over the practice of male gym trainers instructing female clients without adequate measures in place to protect their safety and dignity.

Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav made the observation while hearing an appeal in Nitin Saini v. State of UP and Another, a criminal case involving allegations of caste-based abuse and misconduct by a gym trainer.

According to the complaint, the accused, Nitin Saini, allegedly hurled casteist slurs at a woman, physically pushed her out of the gym, and made obscene videos of her friend. The case was registered last year under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

In its August 27 order, the Court directed the police to verify whether the gym was lawfully registered, whether the accused had been arrested, and if the facility employed female trainers.
