Kuwait's Permanent Investigation Committee for the Trial of Ministers has referred former Minister of Defence Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad to the Ministerial Court on charges related to the misuse of public funds.

Sheikh Ahmad is accused of misappropriating KD 400,000 to purchase luxury watches and vehicles for personal use, actions that amount to squandering public funds. The complaint was filed by Sheikh Fahad Al Yousef, Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

The decision to refer the case was made by the committee, which is headed by Counsellor Omar Al Masoud, alongside Counsellors Saud Al Sanea and Ahmed Al Muqalled. Additionally, a former office manager is also implicated for reportedly collaborating in submitting invoices for the purchases made by Sheikh Ahmad.

The committee, which was established by the Council of Ministers in 2019 to investigate allegations of corruption involving current and former ministers, also dismissed a separate complaint filed by the Financial Investigations Unit. The complaint alleged Sheikh Ahmad’s involvement in election interference through the disbursement of funds. After review, the committee found no evidence to support the claim and decided to close the case.

This development comes as part of Kuwait’s ongoing commitment to uphold corruption laws and ensure accountability in public office.
