The firm, Hill Dickinson, which operates across multiple countries, identified a surge in the use of generative AI tools and writing assistants, prompting a reassessment of its AI policy.

An internal review revealed that over 32,000 interactions with ChatGPT occurred within a single week, alongside more than 3,000 instances of staff engaging with DeepSeek, a Chinese AI tool that has been flagged for security concerns. Additionally, Grammarly recorded close to 50,000 interactions during the same period.

Concerned about potential risks associated with data security, accuracy, and compliance, the firm decided to restrict AI access. Moving forward, employees must formally request approval before using AI tools within the workplace.
