
Oman Launches Golden Residency Visa to Attract Foreign Investors
Five- and ten-year residency options launched to attract global investors, alongside digital services for easier business ownership transfers.

Oman has rolled out a new Golden Residency Visa programme designed to attract foreign investors and strengthen its position as a hub for global business. The initiative also includes an electronic authentication service for transferring commercial registration ownership through the Invest Oman platform.
Announced on August 31 by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the scheme aims to create a stable and stimulating investment climate offering long-term growth prospects. Mubarak bin Mohammed Al-Douhani, Director General of Planning and head of the Ministry’s Digital Transformation Team, said the move reflects Oman’s commitment to enhancing its competitiveness and providing high-quality opportunities for investors.
In addition, Oman plans to introduce the Majid Companies initiative, further supporting entrepreneurship and investment in the country.
Golden Residency Visa: Two-Tier System
Applicants can apply for the Golden Visa online via the Invest Oman platform. The programme offers two investment residency tiers, with renewable permits valid for five or ten years, subject to meeting specific requirements.
Tier 1 (10-year residency)
- Invest at least OMR 500,000 in a limited liability company, public joint-stock company, or government bonds.
- Purchase property worth a minimum of OMR 500,000.
- Establish a company employing at least 50 Omani nationals (no minimum capital requirement).
- Card fee: OMR 551.
Tier 2 (5-year residency)
- Invest at least OMR 250,000 in a limited liability or public joint-stock company.
- Buy property worth a minimum of OMR 250,000.
- Expatriates wishing to retire in Oman can qualify with proof of a fixed monthly income of no less than OMR 4,000.
- Card fee: OMR 326.
The programme is part of Oman’s broader strategy to diversify its economy, attract high-value investments, and offer foreign investors a secure and rewarding environment for long-term residency and business opportunities.
