A Ras Al Khaimah court has acquitted a 40-year-old man of charges accusing him of assaulting and filming his 35-year-old wife without her consent. The Court of First Instance also dismissed a related civil lawsuit against him.
The man’s legal counsel presented medical reports that refuted the claims of physical harm. The defence further argued that the wife had a documented history of fabricating allegations, despite their 17-year marriage and the welfare of their eight children.
The accusations stemmed from an incident where the wife left their eight children home alone to go to work, returning late at night. The husband had put their 3-year-old daughter to bed but faced resistance when the mother attempted to take the child, despite his request to let her rest.
In response to the altercation, the husband began recording the interaction, claiming he had her consent. The court found no intent of assault, noting that the video was made to protect himself legally amidst ongoing disputes.
The husband has accused the wife of misappropriating Dh43,000, filing a separate civil lawsuit to recover the funds. Divorce proceedings have also been initiated by the husband, while the wife has yet to provide evidence supporting her claims.
The court concluded that the accusations were unsubstantiated, declaring the husband innocent of all charges.
