Saudi Arabia Probes 89 Non-profit Organisations for Regulatory Violations
Licences revoked, boards dismissed and hundreds warned as authorities tighten oversight of the non-profit sector.
Saudi Arabia’s National Center for the Non-Profit Sector has taken punitive action against a number of non-profit organisations across the Kingdom for breaching regulations and bylaws.
The measures include the dismissal of the board of directors of one organisation, the revocation of licences of three others, and investigations into alleged violations involving 89 non-profit organisations.
The centre has referred 28 non-profit organisations to the competent authorities for regulatory breaches, while issuing warnings to 436 non-profit organisations and 53 non-profit institutions during November and December. It also handled 97 reports linked to violations of fundraising regulations.
In total, 89 investigative sessions were held, during which testimonies were heard, leading to the referral of 28 entities to the relevant authorities for further action.
The National Center reiterated the need for individuals and non-profit organisations to strictly comply with the laws, bylaws, guidelines and procedures governing the sector.
On sector growth, the centre reported the registration of 228 non-profit associations, 29 non-profit foundations and 63 family funds across priority areas in various regions of the Kingdom. This takes the total number of registered non-profit organisations in Saudi Arabia to 7,291 by the end of December 2025. During the same period, 1,161 licences were issued for fundraising activities.
