The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) has confiscated more than 3.6 million products found in violation of the Kingdom’s Trademark Law, following over 2,000 inspection visits across 51 cities and governorates.

According to the authority’s 2024 Annual Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Report, about 52 per cent of these infringements were linked to the clothing and footwear sector.

The report, published alongside the Regional Conference on Intellectual Property Enforcement Practices, also revealed that 330 suspected customs shipments were intercepted in cooperation with the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority, preventing over 6.7 million infringing items from reaching the Saudi market.

In the digital sphere, enforcement efforts intensified in 2024, with 7,900 websites blocked for copyright violations -- a 128 per cent increase compared to 2023. The authority further handled more than 3,200 complaints relating to trademark and copyright infringement.

On the global stage, Saudi Arabia advanced its position in several international benchmarks, including the American Chamber of Commerce Intellectual Property Index and the Global Competitiveness Report issued by the International Institute for Management Development.
