The Sharjah Misdemeanor Court heard a case involving an Asian woman accused of unlawfully keeping lost property with the intention of claiming ownership.

According to investigations, the woman allegedly picked up an earring lying on the ground in the parking area of a shopping mall in Sharjah and left the scene without informing authorities or handing over the item to the concerned officials.

Investigators said surveillance cameras installed at the location captured the incident, helping authorities identify the suspect, trace the vehicle involved and connect her to the case.

During court proceedings, the accused denied the allegation, claiming that the item seen in the footage was a ring belonging to her and not an earring lost by another person.

She also stated that she was unaware of anyone losing jewellery at the scene. However, she acknowledged that the vehicle appearing in the surveillance footage and mentioned in the police report belonged to her husband.

The court adjourned the case to a later hearing to complete legal procedures ahead of delivering its verdict.
