UAE Counters Over 600 Cyberattacks on Critical Sectors, Reinforces Cyber Law Framework
Nationwide response strengthens legal accountability, cybersecurity resilience, and digital protection protocols

In a major cybersecurity defense move, the UAE Government’s Cybersecurity Council announced that it has successfully repelled over 600 cyberattacks targeting both public and private sector entities. The attacks aimed at breaching vital digital infrastructures, including legal and strategic networks, were effectively neutralized using internationally recognized cyber law protocols and security practices.
Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, revealed that a cybercriminal entity claimed responsibility for compromising Oracle Cloud’s SSO and LDAP systems. This global data breach is believed to have affected approximately 140,000 entities, including 634 within the UAE, consisting of 30 government bodies, 13 private firms, and other critical institutions — some potentially handling sensitive legal and client information.
The breach has raised concerns within the legal and cybersecurity community, especially among lawyers and compliance professionals, who are now emphasizing the importance of cyber law, digital rights protection, and data privacy regulations.
Emergency cybersecurity protocols have been activated nationwide in collaboration with legal and regulatory authorities. These efforts aim at enhancing resilience and enforcing accountability for cybercrimes.
The Cybersecurity Council called on all government departments, law firms, private companies, and legal institutions to align with the UAE’s cyber law framework and ensure legal compliance.
As cyberattacks grow increasingly complex, lawyers stress the urgent need for cyber law awareness and secure digital practices.
