A UAE court has sentenced an Emirati couple and a family member to prison for framing their Indian business partner in a false drug case in a calculated attempt to take over a thriving business venture. The ruling from the Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court sends a strong message about the country’s zero-tolerance approach toward malicious legal manipulation and fabrication of evidence.

Case Summary

The Emirati businessman (S.R.) and his wife were each sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined Dh50,000, while the wife’s brother (A.A.) received 15 years and a Dh100,000 fine for his critical role in the conspiracy. Investigations revealed that the accused attempted to falsely implicate their Indian business partner in a drug possession case in order to take over a highly successful joint venture.

Using A.A., who had a prior history of drug use, the group planted illegal substances in the Indian partner’s car and reported him to authorities. The setup led to the partner’s arrest.

Truth Uncovered

However, a drug test returned negative, triggering further inquiry. Upon questioning, the Indian businessman detailed ongoing disputes with S.R., including efforts to forcibly dissolve the partnership. This led authorities to launch a deeper investigation, eventually exposing the fabricated charges.

Faced with overwhelming evidence, S.R. confessed to orchestrating the entire plot with his wife and A.A.

Court Ruling

The UAE court found the defendants guilty of:

  • Framing an innocent person

  • Fabricating evidence

  • Misusing legal channels for personal gain

All three were handed lengthy jail sentences, hefty fines, and held accountable for attempting to manipulate the justice system to seize business control unlawfully.
